Bakers in Kalutara District

The western coastal strip south of the capital

Ordering a cake in Kalutara District

Kalutara stretches down the coast from Panadura through Wadduwa, Beruwala and Aluthgama, and inland to Horana, Matugama and Bandaragama. For anyone delivering along this strip, a local baker beats one in Colombo comfortably — the coastal road is slow at the best of times and the humidity is unkind to decorated cakes.

The district serves both a resident population and a steady stream of visitors along the beach belt, so bakers here are generally used to working to a date and a time rather than a vague window.

Towns covered: Aluthgama, Baduraliya, Bandaragama, Beruwala, Bulathsinhala, Dodangoda, Horana, Ingiriya, Kalutara, Katukurunda, Magalkanda, Matugama, Nagoda, Panadura and more.
